What We Teach
How to set up all basic in car driver side adjustments before operating left hand side automatic cars.
Scanning, understanding and following signs.
Understanding rules and regulations in terms of driving in lanes, safe gaps.
Different kind of intersections in small streets and traffic lights.
Observation skills in terms of taking care of others on the road.
Consistency in maintaining speed within city, highways, schools, parks and construction zones.
Parallel Parking, Pull over, Backward Parking, Hill Parking as per ICBC road test.
Merging and exit from Highway.
Making you familiar with the roads , traffic , area where you are hitting actual exam.

I recently passed my Insurance Corporation of British Columbia Class 5 road test, and I want to sincerely thank Gary for helping me get there.
Coming from a different driving background, I was completely new to driving in Canada, and adjusting was not easy. On top of that, driving in Burnaby can be quite tricky because of the road layouts, busy intersections, hills, lane changes, and overall road situations that require you to stay very aware.
What I really appreciated about Gary was how well he analyzed my situation and understood exactly what I needed to improve. Instead of giving generic lessons, he focused on helping me adapt specifically to Canadian driving expectations and taught me how to properly handle situations that commonly come up during road tests, especially around Burnaby routes.
I took around 10 lessons with him, and throughout the process he was incredibly patient, detail-oriented, and genuinely invested in helping me improve. He helped build my confidence step by step and made sure I understood not just how to pass the test, but how to become a safer and more aware driver overall.
I’m really grateful for all the guidance and support, and I would highly recommend Gary to anyone looking for a knowledgeable instructor who truly understands how to prepare students for driving in BC.

I passed my road test today at ICBC Lougheed Burnaby on my 2nd attempt, and I want to sincerely thank Gary from Freeway Driving Academy for all his hard work and support.
I am originally from Brazil and was a very nervous driver with low confidence behind the wheel. Gary was extremely patient and focused on improving my weak areas step by step. He honestly recommended the Beginner Package, which I genuinely needed, and it helped me build strong driving fundamentals.
One thing I really appreciated was how he gradually gave me the freedom to drive independently while only giving directions. This made me feel much more confident and comfortable on the road. His mock tests, detailed feedback, reminders for shoulder checks, parking practice, and tips for tricky manoeuvres made a huge difference.
Gary always used to say, “The parking method is not important as long as you finish safely within one minute,” and that practical mindset really helped reduce my stress during the test.
Thank you again Gary and Freeway Driving Academy for helping me become a safer and more confident driver. Highly recommended for beginners, nervous drivers, and anyone preparing for their road test!

Freeway Driving Academy was instrumental in helping me achieve and passing my driving test for my Class 7 License. Gary is very knowledgeable and patient in his approach to teaching me how to drive for someone who has never been behind a wheel and had a lot anxiety about driving.
I liked his steps approach about teaching the mechanics of driving.

Gary is a fantastic instructor, incredibly patient and attentive to detail. He provides excellent feedback + tips to make the driving experience intuitive and not stressful. He’s also always on time and the car is clean and well maintained.
We did classes around the test area to get familiar with any tricky manoeuvres that may be required. He also conducted several mock tests to catch subconscious mistakes one might make.
I had signed up for 15 hours of classes without having driven much before. Gary felt I was ready after just 10 classes and encouraged I take the class 7 test early. I passed in my first attempt!

Gary has helped me a lot in my journey to get Class-5 license. His instructions were clear and extremely valuable for clearing the test on the final day.
I really appreciate the mock tests I took leading up to the final day. Because of the all the feedback I got from Gary, I passed the final test without a single mark. The only comment the ICBC instructor written on the sheet was "Good Job!".

I got my class 5 today just after three lessons with Gary. Gary is very friendly, patient and catches even the most minor mistakes. He not just helped me get my license but also helped me improve my overall driving by making it “smoother”. He also helped me find and book an earlier available appointment. The exam route was exactly the same where we practiced and hence I was fairly comfortable during the exam and knew the route already. I’m not exactly a new driver but Gary was able to tailor my sessions to my level pretty easily. Highly recommended for all levels.

This is the best driving school for any one looking for a quick learning. Gary is very skillful and reads our mistakes to bring oneself to perfection. He is so positive and motivating instructor. I was able to clear my road test easily with all his techniques.

It's an awesome experience and become a Great fan of Gary's work in teaching the driving lessons. In one word, I can say he is the best instructor in Burnaby who takes lots of care for his students and help them overcome their mistakes with easy tricks & trips. I got cleared my ICBC Class5 road test with much confidence with the lessons from Gary.

I got my class 5 license today.Gary was a huge help. Fully Professional, very accommodating and genuine Instructor. Very good knowledge about driving rules and fully skilled. He guided me really well and noticed my mistakes and explained really well in short time to sort them out and make my driving perfect and safe. Big Thanks to him and highly recommend.
